Study abroad in Granada

This now busy university town was once the last stronghold of the Moors in Spain, and the Arabic influence can still be seen today.

At the foot of the snow-capped mountains of the Sierra Nevada, you will find the town of Granada. The town is built at the foothills of the mountain’s slopes and the famous Moorish Alhambra Palace enjoys a strategic position perched on the hill which overlooks the town. Whilst it is at the base of the mountains, Granada is still only an hour drive from the Andalusian coast. Visitors can enjoy the best of the warm summers, or a visit to the ski slopes in the mountains during winter time.

Apart from the Alhambra castle which still remains the most popular attraction for visitors to Granada, there are many narrow streets, churches and plazas to be explored, especially in the popular Albaicin neighborhood. Here you will find unique architecture, markets and young hippies gathered in the plazas overlooking the town.

Granada has a large student population, with approximately 80,000 university students at the University of Granada itself.  The large student population brings a youthful presence to the city, with many numerous music, theater, art and dance events being held in the town at any time. These events are the perfect opportunity for you to practice your Spanish skills during your stay in Granada.
