Study abroad in Quito
Study Spanish in Quito, the Ecuadorian capital that lies nestled between the Andean mountains.
Built on a former Incan capital, Quito is full of cultural riches and its old town was one of the first cities in the world to be declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you will find a compelling combination of architectural treasures, seventeenth century mansions, attractive plazas and cobbled streets. In contrast, the new city is lined with high rise buildings, shopping centers, cafes and galleries. Both parts of the city come to life at night, when there are a huge variety of options for dining, drinking and dancing.
The city lies in a narrow valley, in the eastern slopes of the Pichincha Volcano. Because of its high altitude, it has a mild climate and the locals (Quiteños) like to say that in Quito you experience four seasons in one day: spring in the morning, summer in the afternoon, autumn in the evening and winter at night. Quiteños are known for speaking Spanish more slowly than in coastal areas, which makes it a perfect playe to practice Spanish.
