Study abroad in Monteverde

Take your Spanish course in Monteverde, the Costa Rican region famous for its incredible cloud forest in the mountains.

Originally a small Quaker settlement, Monteverde is now one of the most popular ecotourism destinations because of its extraordinary flora and fauna. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of the area, especially the huge variety of orchids and exotic birds, in one of the various reserves, including the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, the Bosque Eterno de los Niños and the Reserva Santa Elena. These conservation areas can be explored on a hike or by taking a canopy tour, involving a series of suspension bridges and zip lines.

The climate in Monteverde is cooler than in the rest of Costa Rica, with the temperature staying between 13 and 24 degrees Celsius in the cloud forests throughout the year.

During her language course in Costa Rica the Swiss Olympic snowboarder Najda Purtschert travelled with Yalea Languages and Sudden Rush to Monteverde to learn Spanish and to improve her surfing skills. Find out more about her trip and get inspiration for your own language learning adventure!
