International House Barcelona
International House Barcelona is part of the International House Group of schools who offer languages courses in six countries around the world. Forming part of the International House World school network, International House Barcelona has links to 139 other language schools around the world. All International House schools are committed to a high standard of teaching and the teachers are carefully selected and highly qualified (many of them having not only undergraduate degrees but also PhDs).
International House Barcelona is located in the city centre, less than five minutes walk from the central square, Plaza Cataluña. Housed over six floors of a corner building, the main school building has a number of attractive features including a marble staircase, high ceilings and its distinctive triangular shape. In 2016, the school also took over the building opposite, which was designed by the Modernist architect Josep Graner Prat in the early 20th century and, in addition to its classrooms, it contains an auditorium that is used for examinations, conferences and events.
At International House Barcelona, you can personalize your program by combining your Spanish classes with art workshops, an internship or culture lessons. If you would like to see more of Spain during your stay, you can choose to split your studies over more than one International House school in Spain. After Barcelona, why not travel to the Balearic Islands to continue your course in the school in Palma de Mallorca or to San Sebastián where you can study at International House's partner school, Lacunza?
Outside of your classes you can get some extra practice by taking one of the complimentary online Spanish courses in the school’s computer room or by chatting with other students in the sunshine on the rooftop terrace. As International House also offers courses in English, German and French to the local population, you will easily be able to meet and make friends with native Spanish speakers and practice your Spanish with them, perhaps in exchange for some help with their English.
International House organizes a social and cultural activity program made up of a combination of free and reduced price options. These may include tours of different areas within Barcelona, museum trips, film nights, concerts and language exchange evenings. The school also works with a tour operator to provide students with weekend excursions outside the city, such as to Montserrat, Sitges and the Costa Brava.
