Cover during your language course abroad
Sometimes your normal insurance will cover you while you are away. You should check what your current insurance includes before you decide whether to purchase any further cover. Depending on your age and where you live, remember to also discuss this with your parents as you may find that their policy covers you. If you wish, we can arrange your travel insurance for you.
Our insurance advice
When selecting your insurance, it is important to bear in mind the excess (the amount you will be charged if you make a claim). You should also think about whether it will be more economical for you to purchase single trip insurance or an annual multi-trip policy. If you are planning to stay away for a long period of time or will be doing further travelling over the year, it may be worth taking out an annual policy.
We recommend you seek advice from an insurance specialist.
Your normal health insurance might cover you while you are away. Make sure you check the terms and conditions that apply to using your insurance abroad. We recommend that you obtain written confirmation of your health insurance (an Insurance Certificate) before you travel so that you can take this document with you.
Depending on your destination and the length of your stay, it may be worth taking out separate travel insurance. Often travel insurance packages include insurance against travel cancellations. We recommend you make sure that your policy includes this.
