The Campbell Institute Wellington

(134 ratings)

This prestigious school owes its name to the talented and well respected New Zealand professor Alyerd Campbell Brown, whom during the 1940s was at the forefront of education in New Zealand and Australia. The Campbell Institute continues his legacy of quality education paired with personalized assistance. The institute is run by dedicated staff. The three directors who started The Campbell Institute are all former English teachers. Their dream when they started the institute was to build the best English language institute in New Zealand.

The school itself is well located in close proximity to Wellington’s universities. The school provides not only English education, but also special courses for young adults and courses paired with activities. The Campbell Institute focuses on providing the necessary attention to individual students. To enable the school to do this, each week they provide each student with a private lesson, free of charge, to be able to focus on and build individuals’ understanding. In addition to this, the Campbell Institute provides courses such as barista training or playing rugby. The school also has the longest running Au Pair program in New Zealand, which guarantees students a more focused experience in English practice and engaging in the local culture.

Given that the school is surrounded by numerous educational institutes, such as the University of Victoria, the spirit of innovation felt in this district clearly influences the school. On top of this, the school is surrounded by impressive restaurants and cafes which students can enjoy visiting after class.

The Campbell Institute provides the ideal environment for learning English. The comfortable classrooms, library which is well equipped with computers and the cafeteria are all areas where students can share time with their peers and practice their English skills. Every afternoon, students also have the opportunity to watch English movies at the school with their classmates. In addition to the school’s facilities, the staff at The Campbell Institute organizes an activities program for students every week including movie nights, board games, conversation club, visits to museums and sporting matches. Each weekend students also have the opportunity to explore further afield, going hiking in beautiful natural landscapes, or even taking part in more exhilarating sports like paragliding!

All of the professors at the Campbell Institute are well experienced as English as a foreign language teachers, supporting each student according to their needs.
